Diabetes is a group of metabolic disease in which a person has high blood pressure. It can occur in two cases-

  1. If the body is not producing enough insulin.
  2. Whether the cells does not respond to the insulin that is produced.

Types of Diabetes:

  1. Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus
  2. Non insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus
  3. Gestational diabetes

Signs of Diabetes:

  • Loss of weight
  • Frequent urination
  • Increased thirst
  • Increased hunger

Causes:

  • Genetic defects of β-cell function
  • Maturity onset diabetes of the young
  • Mitochondrial DNA mutations
  • Genetic defects in insulin processing or insulin action
  • Defects in proinsulin conversion
  • Insulin gene mutations
  • Insulin receptor mutations
  • Exocrine pancreatic defects
  • Chronic pancreatitis
  • Pancreatectomy
  • Pancreatic neoplasia
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Hemochromatosis
  • Fibrocalculous pancreatopathy
  • Endocrinopathies
  • Growth hormone excess (acromegaly)
  • Cushing syndrome
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Pheochromocytoma
  • Glucagonoma
  • Infections
  • Cytomegalovirus infection
  • Drugs
  • Glucocorticoids
  • Thyroid hormone
  • β-adrenergic agonists

Medication for Diabetes:

  • Anti-diabetic medication
  • Insulin therapy

Tips To Avoid Diabetes:

  • Have well-balanced diet that is high in fiber, low in saturated fat, and low in concentrated sweets
  • Take correct dose of medication or insulin.
  • Exercise regular
  • Walk for 20 minutes thrice a week
  • Eliminate consumption of alcohol
  • Don’t smoke or use any tobacco
  • Check blood sugar level frequently
